Authorities in Punjab, reported that several Mohali schools, Fortis Hospital received bomb threat emails recently. The development triggered an immediate police response, including anti-sabotage checks across the mentioned locations.
“The bomb threat issued to the schools also mentioned Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where we carried out anti-sabotage inspections,” a senior Mohali police official confirmed, adding that while essential services continued uninterrupted, non-essential services were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.
Police teams simultaneously conducted thorough checks across the schools named in the threat emails.
Mohali Schools & Fortis Hospital on High Alert
The timing of the threat is particularly notable given that security around Fortis Hospital had already been significantly heightened following the admission of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to the facility. Mann, who had been discharged earlier, was readmitted on Monday evening — just hours after leaving the hospital. Sources close to the development indicated that he was brought back due to exhaustion.
In a separate but related incident on Wednesday, sixteen private Mohali schools received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuations and extensive anti-sabotage sweeps by law enforcement. Despite thorough inspections, no suspicious materials or explosives were found at any of the locations.
15 Schools threatened in Noida and Delhi
The wave of bomb threat emails sweeping across North India reached new heights this week, with around 12 schools in Noida being evacuated on Thursday after receiving threatening emails during ongoing CBSE board examinations.
Delhi was not spared either. At least three schools in the capital received similar bomb threat emails, with the affected institutions identified as CRPF Public School and St. Thomas School in Dwarka, and DAV Centenary Public School in Paschim Enclave.
A Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officer confirmed the response: “Fire tenders and rescue teams were immediately rushed to the locations as a precautionary measure.” Police teams, bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog units, and fire services conducted thorough security sweeps across classrooms, corridors, and open grounds at all three locations.
In several cases, ongoing examinations were temporarily paused. Students and teachers were calmly escorted to designated safe areas, until security agencies completed their checks and cleared the premises. No suspicious materials were found at any of the sites.
Other Regions Gripped By Similar Threat Too
This latest incident follows a troubling pattern of similar threats received by schools in various regions like Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, and parts of Haryana too. But after investigation and search operations, all of which turned out to be hoaxes.Â
At least 28 schools in Ahmedabad and Vadodara received bomb threat emails on Monday. On January 23 as well, several schools in Ahmedabad had received similar bomb threat emails, which later turn out to be an hoax.
However, authorities are continuing their investigation to trace the origin of these emails and identify those responsible for creating panic across the region.
No Visible Accountability, No Credible Leads in Bomb Threat Emails
The recurring pattern of bomb threat emails targeting schools across Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Noida raises serious questions that authorities cannot afford to ignore. While every threat is being treated as a hoax after the fact, there is no visible accountability. No credible leads made public, and no concrete preventive framework in place.Â
With children being repeatedly displaced from classrooms and public panic normalizing, the bigger concern is this: if authorities cannot trace a simple email chain, how prepared are they for a real threat?
