Nepal’s New Leader: Sushila Karki
Sushila Karki, a 73-year old jurist, on 12 September 2025, became the first female prime minister of Nepal. She is recognized as one of the most powerful & bravest lady to go against the corruption. She became the first female Chief Justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court on July 2016.
Why She is in the News
Her appointment as a PM for an interim government of Nepal, was largely supported by Gen Z, the young protesters. She was the first name to came across during the protests, and because of her clean, honest & non-political leader reputation. She is known for her tough image against corruption. And that’s the need for Nepal’s citizens as they don’t trust the ruling party and its leaders for the bright future of Nepal.
